20+ Awesome Shows To Watch On Hulu
标签:
2007-10-30 16:38:42 摘自 mashable.com 阅读原文
If you’re wondering if there will be anything worth watching onHuluonce you score aninvite, we’ve gathered together 20+ things that should be worth your time. And yeah, some of this stuff is actually (gasp!) good!
Arrested Development- The entire first season is here. I normally keep my personal opinion out of the toolboxes, but, this is quite possibly one of the funniest shows to ever air on television. Follow the Bluth family as they prove there is no love like that of a family… who is constantly out for no one but themselves.
Battlestar Galactica (classic)- Check out where Battlestar Galactica started, and see how it turned in to the award-winning show it is today. Count how many times the girl with the funky pigtails says “Vipers, launch when ready.” You can catch the entire series (all one season of it) on Hulu. (If you’re a fan of the old school Galactica, forget you just read that, and enjoy the bestest show ever. Ed.)
Buffy, The Vampire Slayer- Check out the first season of this cult favorite show that was not only about vampires, but also about the challenges life presents to everyone growing up. Sometimes, the demonic bad person was the easy fight.
Doogie Hoswer, M.D.- Before Neil Patrick Harris went on to be Barney onHow I Met Your Mother, he wasDoogie Howser, M.D.. If you’ve never experienced this teenager-is-a-doctor-series…well, you aren’t missing much, but it’s good for an unintentional laugh.
Hill Street Blues- The first season of this hit police drama by Steven Bochco, who later went on to createNYPD Blue. Sadly, there is no sign of his other “hit” cop series,Cop Rock.
Kitchen Confidential- Based on the book of the same name by world-class chef Anthony Bourdain, the sitcom of his semi-fictionalized life only lasted 4 episodes before Fox canceled it. There were 9 un-aired episodes at the time, and you can find all 13 of them on Hulu.
Night Gallery- Hulu only has five episodes so far of the lsser known of Rod Serling’s second horror-inspired series’. If you’ve only seenThe Twilight Zone, do yourself of the favor of checking his darker, more cerebral, follow-up.
The Mary Tyler Moore Show- A ground breaking show in the 1970’s, and possibly the only TV show to ever have three spin-offs (Lou Grant,Rhoda, andPhyllis).
WKRP in Cincinnati- Hulu has the complete first season of this hit sitcom for you to watch. Some of the music has been changed, but things like Dr. Fever screaming “BOOGER!” are there to make you laugh all over again.

Let me finish this short announcement on a technical note. We know there are some users who are unable to use BlogBridge Service being locked behind firewalls. Our Service runs on the non-standard network port 8080 today, which is usually blocked by ISPs and network administrators. As we now will be running our own server, it becomes possible to assign it to the standard web port, thus giving full access to all magic of BlogBridge Service to everyone in the world.

What News Corp doesn't want you to know about MySpace: Condensed ed...

2006-09-17 22:58:31 摘自 www.valleywag.com 阅读原文
MySpace has spawned an incredibly successful twist on the age-old art of self-promotion, allowing--even encouraging--the marketing of everything from bands to businesses on their site. Essentially, they've opened up a channel through which to solicit and promote everyone and everything, most importantly the individual. The whole site is, in essence, a marketing tool that everyone who registers has access to. Users constantly receive spam-like messages from said bands, business, and individuals looking to add more friends (and therefore more potential fans, consumers, or witnesses) to their online identity. A testament to this strange new social paradigm is the phrase Thanks for the Add, a nicety offered when one MySpace user adds another as a friend. Best yet, to use the site, members must log in, causing them to inadvertently view advertisements, and then read their messages on a page with even more advertisements. In the world of MySpace, Spam is earth, air, fire, and water.

Is MySpace totally bad? Not at all. Are we old farts? Yeah, probably. But the Web's most popular site needs a serious security reboot. And probably a makeover. Until then, MySpace won't ever be OurSpace.
